About this Event

Mystical Myths - THE THEATRE FESTIVAL

IZAARA’s Mystical Myths - Singapore’s original multi-racial theatre festival since 2019.

The festival is conceptualised, created, curated and produced by festival director Monisha Charan of IZAARA.

The festival is back in its 3rd season to enchant and enthrall audiences, with engaging new myths, that are directed by acclaimed directors and performed by a cast of professional actors from Singapore’s diverse and multiracial diaspora. Mystical Myths has evolved with each season and this compelling new season promises to transport you into our mystical world once again with stories that sometimes conform and occasionally also confound the word MYTH.

ALAS FATE!

Director - Lewin Bernard

Writer - Charlotte Lim

According to a traditional and ancient Chinese legend, the Red Thread of Fate binds two destined soulmates transcending time, place, and circumstance. Once passionately in love, Yue and Xia are divorced and living separate lives today. However, fate brings them back to confront past choices and rediscover their love as their memories fade with time. This traditional Chinese myth woven into this beautiful story by a young and talented playwright shows that the red thread may tangle and stretch but never break!

THE ELDER FOREST ACCORD

Director - Wan Ahmed

Writer - Sunita Lad Bhamray

The Elder Forest Accord is a magical realism play set in an enchanted forest, where a young man’s initiation into the traditional logging profession reveals a hidden world of spirits. Torn between family duty and nature’s power, he faces a critical choice. This two-act eco-drama explores the clash between human legacy and environmental preservation, offering a timely reflection on our connection to the natural world with heart and urgency. Being performed in a fascinating, theatrical format, this play will enchant the audience.
