About this Event
Join folklorist, Ozark healer, and tantrika (non-monastic initiated practitioner of Vajrayana Buddhism) Brandon Weston in a guided land offering practice and meditation for cleansing the five elements.
Making offerings to the land has long been a part of both Tibetan Buddhism as well as Ozark folk practice. This guided visualized ritual is based on a very important Tibetan practice called riwo sangchö or "mountain smoke offering," in which countless offerings are invoked and visualized going out to satisfy the needs of countless beings across all universes. Meditations for cleansing the five elements inside and outside the body are often paired with these offering practices as a way of returning our own energies back to the flow of nature.

Bio:
Brandon Weston (they/them, he/him) is a folklorist, author, traditional Ozark healer, and initiated tantrika in several lineages of Tibetan Buddhism (Vajrayana). He's the author of Ozark Folk Magic, the Ozark Mountain Spell Book, and Granny Thornapple's Book of Charms. His work often blends his backgrounds in the Ozark and Tibetan traditions and you'd be surprised how much the two have in common. He comes from a long line of Ozark hillfolk and works hard to keep the traditions of the region alive and well for future generations.
