Born on this year's Spring Equinox and occurring each new astrological season, Myelinated Tarot will soon honor its first Summer Solstice! Underneath the coming Cancerian Sun, this gathering is taking new shape, grounded in learnings we gleaned during its first three editions.Myelinated Tarot is a participatory workshop to explore the cards, explore somatics, and inquire into their intersections. Each month's content varies. In this Solstice offering, we will invite in three Major Arcana archetypes: our Magicians, High Priestesses, and Hierophants. Working with these cards, we will bring body-based curiosity to our service as elemental containers, as energetic conduits, and as our own highest somatic authority.
Previous experience is not necessary! All "levels" of tarotist and somatics practice are welcome and honored here, and these workshops are curated with newcomers front of mind.
Our facilitator is a trained and experienced teacher of neuro-informed, trauma-sensitive embodiment practices including yoga asana, breathwork, and meditation. She is also an agnostic witch, who has conversed with the cards for over half of her four fleshed decades.
The Somatic Coven holds Tarot as an ever-evolving, nonhierarchical system for communing with archetypal wisdom, and uses decks that reflect queer, feminist, antiracist, anticapitalist values.
Comfortable clothing and a water receptacle are encouraged. Yoga mats or cushions are helpful: we will have some available or/and you are welcome to bring your own. Paper journals are invited. Attendees are welcome (not at all required) to bring an item to place on the group altar for the duration of our time together. We will ask that all phones and digital devices be entirely turned off and put away before entering the space; please be prepared for this.
