About this Event
Myelinated Tarot is a participatory workshop to explore the cards, explore somatics, and inquire into their intersections. Each month's content varies. In this Leo Season offering, we will invite in two Major Arcana archetypes: our Emperors and Empresses! Learning with these cards, we will bring body-based curiousity to the unique somatic authority contained inside each of us. Our explorative practices will include tarotist teachings, somatic centering, gentle movement and breathwork, and journal prompts.
Previous experience is not necessary! All "levels" of Tarot and somatics practice are welcome and honored here, and these workshops are curated with newcomers front of mind.
Our facilitator is a trained and experienced teacher of neuro-informed, trauma-sensitive embodiment practices including yoga asana, breathwork, and meditation. She is also an agnostic witch, who has conversed with the cards for over half of her four fleshed decades.
The Somatic Coven holds Tarot as an ever-evolving, nonhierarchical system for communing with archetypal wisdom, and uses decks that reflect queer, feminist, antiracist, anticapitalist values.
IMPORTANT PRAGMATIC NOTES:
Comfortable clothing and a water receptacle are encouraged. Yoga mats or cushions are helpful: we will have them available or/and you are welcome to bring your own. Paper journals are invited. Attendees are welcome (not at all required) to bring an item for the group altar during the duration of our time together. We will ask that all phones and digital devices be entirely turned off and put away before entering the space; please be prepared for this.
This gathering is a benefit of membership in The Somatic Coven. Non-members are welcome to register on an $11 to $22 sliding scale. (REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.)
