About this Event
Join us for The Kharkiv Evening on Tuesday, March 17, at 6 p.m. at Mriya Gallery!
Meet filmmaker and journalist, Katya Soldak, for a conversation about Kharkiv during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the country’s arts and cultural resistance, and a sneak preview of scenes from her new documentary, My Kharkiv: Fortress of Solitude.
The charity event, hosted by Rukh Art Hub as part of the exhibition program at Mriya Gallery, will support the completion of the film My Kharkiv: Fortress of Solitude.
Kharkiv-born, Katya is the Editorial Director for Forbes Media International Editions in New York. She directed the documentary The Long Breakup (2020)—the story of Ukraine’s journey to escape Russian influence through the eyes of her friends and family in Kharkiv.
Katya’s new work-in-progress brings her to her hometown of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, located just miles from the Russian border. The film received support from the Documenting Ukraine grant by the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM), led by historian Timothy Snyder.
The Kharkiv Evening will feature art and music from Kharkiv.
