🔆WSL is a non-profit organization that is committed to building community through charitable volunteer action with a primary focus in helping women and children in need.
🛍️MGC is an annual fundraising event where we collect new and gently used women’s clothing, shoes, jewelry, handbags, and accessories. We sort and merchandize the clothes into a department store that is open for 3 days in March. We are known for featuring high quality, brand name items. Most of the funds raised are given back to nonprofits in the community who help people in need with a focus on women and children. On the last day of the sale, we invite women and teens through the non-profits and school counselors who have immediate needs for clothing for work or school to shop for free. They are given a shopping budget and our members help them put together outfits and find items to meet their specific needs. There have been so many stories over the years about how a new matching outfit or new clothes have made a difference in these women and teens. The few items left when the sale is over are donated to local nonprofit thrift stores and other non-profits.
💰In 2024 we grossed over $86,000in sales! Through our grant committee application process, the WSL Members approved over $61,000 in Grant Funds to be given back to nonprofits in our community that align with our mission!
👩‍🎓In addition, We awarded Seven $2,000 scholarships to women returning to college. We also awarded a $1,000 scholarship for a high school senior through the Community Foundation of NCW.
