My Favourite Cake (Cert 12A) is an inspirational and life affirming story of late-blooming love in the shadow of Iran's repressive regime. Set in Tehran, 70 year old Mahin has lived alone since her husband’s death, until an afternoon in a café with friends shows her a way that she may be able to revitalize her love life. As Mahin opens herself up to new romance, what begins as an unexpected encounter quickly evolves into an unpredictable, unforgettable evening. This is a film that is subversive in its own way - the filmmakers have been raided and censored by the Iranian government for its depiction of women without the hijab.
