Join us for the first-ever Why Not Art Salon, hosted at the artist’s home studio. Preview Michael James Freedman’s progress on his portrait series Our Beautiful People, enjoy light refreshments and conversation in the artist’s studio.

The Our Beautiful People project began when Freedman invited community members to participate in the artwork by coming to an “Art Party,” encouraging them to dress for a formal portrait. Over 100 people attended, with guests receiving free photos and the artist obtaining raw material for his portrait series celebrating everyday people of Brooklyn. Freedman plans to create over 10 large-scale portraits in this 2 year project, and has, to date, created countless preparatory drawings, done video interviews with select subjects and has finished 3 large oil paintings. Come see the progress and learn more about this project to be fully realized in 2025.
