About this Event
Don't miss this incredible opportunity to learn beginner to advanced-level basketball skills from skilled high-level Muslim female coaches.. The youth Skills clinic is open to Muslim girls, women and female allies aged 10- 17.
This clinic will be run by Aycha Hamaoui-Askarova and Kiandra Browne.
Former Humber College and Redeemer University College player, Aycha started her college coaching career in 2014. Over her 10 years of coaching, she has produced 6 provincial championships and 2 national championships. She also had the pleasure of coaching two seasons with the Hoop Queens Women’s League, Toronto's first paid women’s league. She is now a teacher in the Toronto District School Board and is looking to support communities in youth sports to help students find passion and love for the game.
Kiandra is currently a graduate student at Duquesne University where she plays D1 basketball while completing her Masters In Business Administration degree. Being from Montreal, Canada her whole life has been revolving around basketball. In September 2020 Kiandra embraced Islam and a short period later, also embraced wearing the hijab. After being hit with the different way that others saw and treated her, she promised herself to create change for the next generation of hijabi ballers. Kiandra established her own activewear line called UpLift Activewear that caters uniquely to the modest woman. This came after she struggled as a modest athlete to find clothes that did not reveal her figure or compromise her religion and beliefs. She runs a fitness coaching business where she helps women transform their fitness and physique goals without compromising their values. Kiandra is now actively striving to create and initiate change wherever she goes.
