About this Event

After sellout screenings accompanied by live performance at The Cube in Bristol and in his hometown of Pembroke Dock, Louis O’Hara brings his film ‘Mwll (of a Fire) Lifeless’ to St Giles Church in association with Dash The Henge store, for a last ever public screening in England. Additional to the screening Louis will be performing a mixture of Welsh language folk music and originals to celebrate St. David’s Day as well as support from Bert Ussher, Eva Lunny and Tom Connolly of Bristol band Quade.

The film features archival footage merged with original footage, filmed by Louis O’Hara, of the large Welsh towns of Doc Penfro, Garnant, Ynys y Barri and Port Talbot accompanied by an original soundtrack also composed and recorded by Louis. The film is the final product of an extended passion project on which the works of Dylan Thomas, Idris Davies and R. S. Thomas can be heard, through samples of Richard Burton and Dylan Thomas himself and through an original poetry reading from Welsh actress Cate Lovett. The music of the project spans many sounds and influences, and features contributions from members of Squid, Minor Conflict, Bible Club, Shanty Le Hara, and Welsh solo artist LEO.
