The 38th Annual Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony & Fundraiser is an opportunity to honor our local sports heroes and legends.
This year the Hall of Fame will welcomes a national championship team, two iconic members of the hockey community, a local football legend and a highly regarded leader in education as a teacher, coach and administrator.
In addition, a distinguished service award recipient and a male and female student athlete will be honored.
The 2025 Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame induction class is comprised of one of the most well-known athletes in Muskegon County history after his storied hockey career with the Mona Shores Sailors, Michigan State Spartans and Detroit Red Wings, Justin Abdelkader; Muskegon Catholic Central football standout, Frank Lewandoski; one of the most well-known hockey voices in America, Bob Heethuis and the 2010 National Champion Muskegon Community College softball team.
The Gene Young Distinguished Service Award recipient is Al Nichols, decorated basketball player, longtime educator as a teacher, administrator and coach, as well as a respected community leader.
Student Athletes of the Year will also be honored.
The event will be held at the Event Center at Fricano Place, 1050 W Western Ave., Muskegon, MI 49441 on Saturday June 14, 2025. Social Hour at 5:00pm, dinner at 6:00pm with the program beginning around 6:45pm.
There will be a buffet style dinner. Adult beverages will be available for purchase
