The relationship between sound and movement lies at the heart of Mavin Khoo’s distinctive Bharatanatyam practice. In this workshop, the internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer shares how his training in ballet, contemporary, and Bharatanatyam has shaped his unique approach to rhythm, pause, and melody. Participants will explore how Khoo embodies musicality in performance and gain tools to deepen their own connection to movement.
While designed with Bharatanatyam practitioners in mind, the session also welcomes dancers from other classical traditions. A direct disciple of Guru Adyar K. Lakshman and Creative Associate with the Akram Khan Company, Khoo is celebrated worldwide for his virtuosity and for expanding the reach of Bharatanatyam through his singular artistic voice.
