Musical Theatre Anonymous (A singing meet up)
Come join us for a fun and casual singing meet up where we celebrate all things musical theatre! Whether you're a seasoned performer or just love belting out show tunes in the shower, this event is for you. Let's gather at My Room- A Place For Healing, Art, and The Healing Arts to share our love for musicals and sing our hearts out together. No judgment, just pure musical joy.
Hi, I’m Kayla, a singer, actor, “strong mover,” and voice teacher. I have such a love for Musicals and no where to really sing my favorite songs. Some songs I have been told are “over done” or “wrong for my type” and it doesn’t make me love them any less. It has also been over 5 years since I have been cast in a proper musical, AND musical genres are CHANGING so quickly! I have been singing and performing for over 20 years and I miss certain songs from my repertoire. Where can I sing these? Well, here, at Musical Theater Anonymous. Sing whatever song you want to, however you want to. Sing it because it brings you joy, sing it because it breaks your heart, or sing it as an “F” you to anyone who told you not to. If you have loved musical theater from afar and wish you had a place to sing some of you favorite songs, this space is for you. This is a support group for anyone with “musical theater issues.” Everyone here will get to sing, and everyone listening is encouraged to give positive feedback and REQUIRED to give positive vibes. This is a community building event, and a chance to be surrounded by people who might have similar experiences as you.
I will offer gentle support and guidance as facilitator of this event, with the tools I have as a voice teacher, trained extensively by Jonathan Stancato and his Inside Voice Technique: an ecstatic, 5-octave, mindbody approach to voice and song.
