Not a 'drum circle' per se, but a percussion-centric musical get together, jamming and creating improv rhythms on the fly.
Drumming is the easiest entry into the musical world for many, and although it's mostly drummers/percussionists who show up, all instruments are welcome. (Obviously, electronically amplified devices played at an appropriate level).
No musical skill or experience necessary, and all are welcome. There are generally extra drums, rattles, and gongs, and all manner of noisy things for sharing, but you will need something to sit upon, as we are often on a grassy lawn...and of course, your choice of hydration.
The sessions will begin with about 25 minutes of either instruction, warm-ups, rhythm games, or other structured activities. Then a 5-minute break followed by 25 minutes of jamming. 10-15 minute 'social break' and then another 25+ minutes of musical jamming. Feel free to come or leave at any point.
There are no fees, 'love offerings', or even suggested donations and please, no soliciting for other events or other causes. This group is strictly about getting together to play music and socialize with those who enjoy the same.
Parking within Goodale Park itself is free, and there is a small parking area close to the field house and convenient to our location. Enter Goodale Park on Park St at W Russel and follow the drive around to the brick field house. Parking on city streets surrounding the park requires payment and the use of the Columbus Parking app.
In case of rain: Unless the rain is actually falling from the sky, on the lawn where we intend to sit, the jam will start at the time listed. Should it start raining during our jam, there is a small picnic shelter close by under which we can huddle. Restrooms = portapots.
