Music/Words LA: Curated by Inna Faliks launches its new three-part season at the Wende with a live program pairing piano and poetry as equal voices. Pianist and UCLA professor Inna Faliks joins Los Angeles Poet Laureate emerita Lynne Thompson, shaping an emotional arc through sound and text, trading the lead as they move through works by Schumann, Schoenberg, and additional selections from the classical and contemporary repertoire alongside Thompson’s poetry.
Originally founded by Faliks in New York, Music/Words has become a platform for artists who probe the borders between language and music. This first installment includes an audience Q&A in which Faliks will discuss the origins of the project and its evolution into an LA residency at the Wende.
Guests are invited to stay for a light wine reception in the garden following the performance.
