The UTRGV Symphony presents a unique concert of traditional Mexican folkloric dance with an orchestral rendition of classic mariachi. This program features leading Mexican composers for the Texas Music Educators Convention in San Antonio, featuring music from the 1939 Mexican film La Noche de los Mayas, also Kauyumari by Gabriela Ortiz, and Concierto de Minería by Samuel Zyman with flute soloist Nicaulis Alliey.
The program will feature UTRGV's Mariachi Aztlán and Ballet Folklórico as well as Mariachi Nuevo Santander from Roma ISD, all performing together with the UTRGV Symphony in a spectacular Mexican night extravaganza.
Directed by Norman Gamboa, Director of Orchestral Activities at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
