Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is thrilled to announce that extraordinary Taite Music Prize finalist Ebony Lamb will be playing at the April edition of our Music of the Month series.
Hailing from Pōneke Wellington, Ebony Lamb released her self-titled debut album last year on Nadia Reid’s Slow Time Records, recorded by Bic Runga and Kody Nielson. The record arrived to unanimous acclaim, with 'The Listener’s' Nick Bollinger noting ‘Ebony Lamb is blessed with more than just a poetic name. She has the voice of woodsmoke and honey’, and The Warratahs’ Barry Saunders labelling the album ‘an extraordinary showcase of originality and musicality’.
Now, we are thrilled to be able to marry music and art once again, as Ebony – herself an accomplished photographer – and musician Gram Antler bring these songs to life in the beautiful atrium of the Gallery. Having recently finished a nationwide tour in support of the iconic Americana act Calexico, there’s never been a finer moment to catch one of the brightest rising stars in our sky.
First in, first serve! No booking required.
