Next week, we are delighted to welcome Pie O'My Eye. A recent arrival in Ballina, Suze Matthews—performing as Pie O’My Eye—is a rare contralto voice, capable of wading deep into the sultry tones of speakeasy-era jazz and blues, then ascending in a cri de cœur with the raw power of ’70s soul. Her sound moves freely between the familiar and the spontaneous, improvising and traversing genres to forge something bold and original—threaded with echoes of the past that feel hauntingly intimate.
She is accompanied by local backing musician Ralph Harrison, who brings a rich blend of styles—from jazz and country to reggae and the blues.
