In this fundraising event for Penny Brohn UK, Maria Januszewska (BMus Perf, MAMEP, PGAD), violin, and Anna Basaldúa Lemarchand (MMus (Perf), BMus (Hons), LLCM (TD), piano, will be performing L. van Beethoven, ‘Spring Sonata, op 24, in F major’, 1st movement: ‘Allegro’ & Johannes Brahms, ‘Sonata in A major op 100’, 1st movement: ‘Allegro amabile’ for piano & violin.

Mari is an awarded violinist (Leverhulme Trust, Ashley Family Foundation and Peter Harris Trust) and a very passionate teacher. Anna has taught in music colleges in Paris & in Spain and now has a flourishing piano practice in South Kensington.
Join us afterwards for a talk by Dr Eleni Tsiompanou, former Penny Brohn member of staff, palliative care NHS consultant, Ayurveda practitioner and one of the founders of , who will share with us a presentation about 'Harmony' and how we can all live more in touch with Nature and our own inner harmony.
Harmony in Health, inspired by the Prince of Wales' book Harmony; a new way of looking at our world, was set up to practically explore the concept of harmony, and how ancient wisdom and modern disciplines can help us to find more balance, health and wellbeing. Amongst their projects is a well-received multidisciplinary online course helping long Covid sufferers navigate the path back to health.

(BMus Perf, MAMEP, PGAD) is an awarded violinist (Leverhulme Trust, Ashley Family Foundation and Peter Harris Trust) and a very passionate teacher.
Maria Januszewska holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music (Violin Performance) from the prestigious Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Poland. After graduation, Mari moved to London to continue her education at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance where she did her MA in Music Education and Performance (Distinction) studying with Michael Bochmann. Afterwards she was awarded scholarships by Leverhulme Trust, Ashley Family Foundation and Peter Harris Trust and was reading for her Postgraduate Advanced Diploma at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance under Ofer Falk which she also graduated with Distinction. Her studies were also generously supported by a grant from The Henry Wood Accommodation Trust Fund.
Mari has played with many orchestras in Poland and London including the London Orchestra Project, Opera Prelude, King’s Chamber Orchestra, London Arts Orchestra, Vox Vanguard Orchestra, London International Sinfonia, Horton Chamber Orchestra, London Euphonia and Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra. She has given performances in LSO St Luke, Cadogan Hall and The Tower of London among others. She has also performed with Stormzy at the Wireless Festival 2018 as a part of the London Film Music Orchestra.
Mari has traveled extensively all over Europe and as far afield as China, touring with orchestras and sharing her musicianship. She has attended violin masterclasses with Jiafeng Chen, Eszter Haffner, Alissa Margulis, Giacomo Tesini, Yuri Volguin, Łukasz Błaszczyk and Krzysztof Śmietana, as well as some chamber masterclasses with Carducci String Quartet and Linos Piano Trio. Mari also took part in orchestra masterclasses including Aurora Music Festival and MACH project (part of the Festival Musica Sull’Acqua) where she was a scholar.
Mari was chosen to represent Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance when Ingles & Hayday asked for a student that could be videoed playing an Amati owned by Corbett (circa 1700).
Apart from being a performer Mari is also very passionate about teaching and sharing her enthusiasm for music. She has been a dedicated teacher for many years, working with students of all ages and levels and having a successful record of preparing her students for ABRSM exams. She has collaborated as a violin teacher in educational projects run by London Symphony Orchestra, Animate Orchestra and has had a placement at the First String Experience course run by the Royal Academy of Music. Mari was also recently appointed as a violin teacher at an astounding Whitgift School.

was born in Bilbao, where she obtained a piano teaching diploma with first class honours at the Music Conservatoire.
As a teenager, she studied with Guido Agosti in Rome and with Pierre Sancan in Nice and Paris for 6 years. Anna also attended the Ecole Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot. Anna has a Masters and a Bachelor of Music (Hons) degree from LCM, where she gained the Raphael Terroni Piano Prize. She also has a Licentiateship, Teacher’s Diploma LLCM (TD) and a Music Medicine Therapy Diploma from The British Performing Arts Medicine Trust in London. Anna also studied in Moscow with E. G. Ginsburg.
Anna has performed at the Castillo Sforzesco, part of the Milan Expo, and the Festivale di Arenzano in Italy, Salle Ravel in Paris, the Festival du Pays de Caux in Normandy, the Sociedad Filarmónica in Bilbao, the Fundación March and the Sociedad del Real Ateneo in Madrid. In London she has given mostly charity concerts. Her next concerts are in Madrid, Istanbul and Prague.
Anna has taught in music colleges in Paris and in Spain, as well as in adult education and in a school in London. She has a piano practice in South Kensington, where she prepares students to take ABRSM & Trinity grades & ATCL Diploma exams. Her students win gold medals in competitions like ‘Around the Globe Piano Music Festival’, ‘Richmond upon Thames Performing Arts Festival’. Anna organises performances for her students. Two of her pupils were selected to play at the Westminster Music Library on International Music Day, in 2019. The concert was attended by the Mayor of Westminster and the Vietnamese Ambassador. Anna speaks 5 languages and understands Portuguese & Russian.

Dr Eleni Tsiompanou is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London (FRCP). She has also trained in Ayurveda and Nutritional Medicine.
Eleni has been researching the Hippocratic writings and their relation to Ayurveda and modern medicine, uncovering gems of practical information to improve health and wellbeing.
Since reading HRH The Prince of Wales’ book ‘Harmony: a new way of looking at our world’, Eleni has been inspired to expand the dialogue about health to include a wider view of harmony. She invites us to look at health through the prism of harmony to connect natural approaches and ancient wisdom traditions to modern science.
