About this Event
Celebrate the holidays with the Museum Council of Greater Philadelphia at the American Philosophical Society Museum! Originally founded in 1743 by Benjamin Franklin, the oldest learned society in the United States opened its museum gallery in Philosophical Hall during 2001. The Museum changes annually to highlight a different themed collection of objects from the Society’s Library. The 2024 exhibition, “Sketching Splendor: American Natural History, 1750-1850,” explores how William Bartram, Titian Ramsay Peale, and John James Audubon made sense of nature’s complexities through their writings, drawings, and watercolors.
Join us to connect with old friends, meet new colleagues, explore the exhibition, and kick off your holiday season! We will have appetizers and a selection of wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages available on the top floor, and the APS exhibition to enjoy below. Food and drink is not allowed in the gallery space.
