In honor of Women’s History Month, we celebrate women in art at this month's Muse & Mingle. Join live art demonstrations from female Art School instructors and art encounters that highlight diverse voices and perspectives in art and culture. Snacks and refreshments are available for purchase.

5:30 pm Spotlight Tour – Too Late to Rewind: From the Collection of Elayne Mordes, 1st floor North Gallery
Join Curator Kelli Bodle for an in-depth look into the collection of Elayne Mordes and the important work in the community she serves as a patron of the arts. Learn more about the video artists in the collection and the significance of collectors, such as Elayne, for a museum’s vitality.
This spotlight tour will last approximately 30 minutes.
6:15 pm Art Demonstration with Suzanne Scherer – Wolgin Education Center
Suzanne Scherer, drawing and painting instructor at the Art School, will guide guests through an egg tempera demonstration utilizing dry pigments and egg yolks to make paints. An important and historical painting method, Suzanne will provide examples of tempera paintings and antique icons, as well as gilding and silverpoint tools for guests to experiment with.
This demonstration will last approximately 30 minutes.
7:00 pm Artist Demonstration with Sofia Vidal – Wolgin Education Center
Sofia Vidal, ceramics instructor at the Art School, will present the porcelain slip-casting process, utilizing the female anatomy as inspiration. Participants will be invited to add to the mold using blue cobalt oxide, creating a collective surface that reflects many voices and will contribute to the evolving journey of the piece.
This demonstration will last approximately 1 hour.
5:00 – 8:00 pm Women in Art: The Museum’s Collection – 2nd floor galleries (Available throughout the evening)
Walk through the Museum’s permanent collection located on the second floor with a guided map that highlights the female artists and artworks on view. Take part in a drop-in art making activity and reflect on your favorite piece or artist.
