Whether you’re a student or just a member of the public who likes cycling, everyone is welcome to join us. The excursion is free but we ask that you please email us in advance ([email protected]) so that we have an idea of how many people will be in the group. It helps us plan better and avoid blocking traffic. If you forget to message us in advance, don’t worry. Feel free to join us at Queen’s College or along the route.
If you would like to join the picnic, let us know whether you’d like to bring a dish, or pay one of the organisers to pick up something at the store to bring along.
At 1:45 PM, we will start to gather in the parking lot at the Queen’s College building on the main campus (MUN) (at 230 Prince Phillip Dr.). We’ll leave in small groups starting at 2 PM with experienced riders at the front and back of each group. Groups will be staggered about 5 minutes apart.
This is an easy route (mostly downhill with an uphill segment on Bonaventure) and should take about 45 minutes. The excursion will take us past The Rooms, and the Basilica, through the historic downtown, along the far side of the harbour and the Narrows, and finish at Fort Amherst. We’ll have a picnic at Fort Amherst before heading back to town.
If you are interested in joining the excursion and live in the downtown area, let us know. If there is enough interest, we may plan a second starting point downtown, with a route that will meet up with the main groups along the way.

Afterwards, we’ll head home. If anyone would like to ride home to the same neighbourhood, we’ll try to match you up with potential riding buddies when we arrive at Fort Amherst.
