Mr. Jamal Ibn Mumia, son of Mumia Abu- Jamal will be presenting a lecture titled:
The Effects on the Family: A discussion with Jamal about growing up with a famous father on death row.
He will also discuss Mumia's literary and radio career, and Ms. Rachel Wolkenstein, one of his former lawyers, will provide legal updates about the case.
Mumia Abu Jamal is an American journalist, political activist, and best-selling author serving a life sentence without parole at State Correctional Institution (SCI) Mahanoy in Frackville, Pennsylvania. He was convicted for the first-degree M**der of a Philidelphia police officer in 1982 and sentenced to death row. The case and trial were riddled with inconsistencies and inaccuracies, leading many to believe Mumia is innocent and was targeted because of his political beliefs. Due to the tireless efforts of many, Mumia Abu Jamal's death sentence was commuted in 2011, and he now serves a life sentence without parole. But Mumia is not yet free, and the work continues!
While in Pr*son, Mumia wrote several books such as Live on Death Row, his first book in 1996, and his most recent work, Have Black Lives Ever Mattered 2017.
