About this Event
This 3-week version of MTTP is an experiential training for educators preparing them to teach age-appropriate mindfulness practices, games, activities, and skills based on social-emotional learning. These methods train children and youth to pay attention, strengthen focus, increase impulse control, regulate behavior, and cultivate tolerance, compassion, and empathy for themselves and others.
Most importantly, this extension of training for the teachers adheres to the foundational principle of teachers continuing to cultivate their daily practice as experienced in the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program, the Mindfulness Immersion, and The M-Body and Mind program, which either one satisfies the prerequisite for participating in MTTP.

Testimonials
MTTP was immensely enriching professionally and personally. I feel more confident about implementing the four modules: Mindful Movements, Mindful Games, Mindful Relaxation, and Kindness; after I practice with my partner in this course, I want to continue practicing daily.
Martha Villarreal-Cox, Teacher, Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Center
I believe this program should be taught to as many teachers and the general populace as possible. The things we learned there are invaluable and something that can help you in any part of life.

LEAD MTTP TEACHER, MKM PROGRAMS COMMITTEE CHAIR AND BOARD MEMBER
Valerie DeWitt became a founding member of the MKM Teaching team in 2011. She serves as a Board Director in the role of Children's Program Chair, and is Lead Teacher for our signature Mindful Teachers Training Program (MTTP). Valerie led our team of educators in creating and refining the MTTP program curriculum and Guidebook, which has proven to be an invaluable resource for educators beyond the training. She develops and delivers special programs for children and families for MKM, both directly and with partnerships.
Valerie's expertise comes from her long established commitment to the vocation of teaching yoga and mindfulness since 2001. She is trained in alignment based and Insight yoga practice for adults, and is a Certified Children's Yoga Teacher. She was a pioneer in bringing mind-body practices to education with the YogaKids® Tools for Schools; training educators and mentoring others to teach youth.
As the mindfulness movement in education began to take root, Valerie expanded her training to include: MBSR Foundations, Mindful Self Compassion and MSC for Teens, Mindful Schools, and Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness, among others. Valerie has impacted thousands of students across time, and continues her teaching practice for adults and children, in schools, yoga spaces, and online. She is dedicated to offering these empowering teachings to youth, and to inspire, educate, and support others in that vision.
About Mindful Kids Miami
Mindful Kdis Miami is a non-profit organization, since our inception in 2011, we have been committed to bringing the transformative benefits of mindfulness to the community. Through interactive training sessions, we equip adults with the tools to introduce mindfulness practices to the children they work with, incorporating simple and age-appropriate techniques.
Our evidence based programs extend to professionals, educators, parents and caregivers, offering mindfulness-based training that has reached 15,000 individuals thus far. Notably, 70% of this impact has been on educators across 350 schools within the Miami-Dade County school district. The positive effects of mindfulness, such as stress reduction, enhanced focus, and emotional regulation, have been evident in both adults and children.
