What Legal Observers Do:
Legal Observers are trained volunteers who monitor and document interactions between law enforcement and civilians at demonstrations, marches, rallies, and other public events.
• Observe law enforcement behavior
• Take notes, photos, or video as appropriate
• Help ensure people’s constitutional rights are respected
• Provide documentation that may be used if rights violations or misconduct need to be reviewed or challenged
Volunteer Role:
• Serve as visible, non-partisan witnesses at public events
• Help promote accountability through accurate documentation
• No prior legal experience is required—just a commitment to civil liberties and adherence to training protocols
This training is a meaningful way for members to support community rights and democratic participation.
