About this Event
In this 2 hr intermediate/advanced clinic, you will learn to advance your technical bike riding. The skills you will learn are fundamental building blocks that can help any rider overcome technical terrain, improve bike handling, and even ride over obstacles you may encounter on the trail.
If you enjoy skinnies, rock gardens, challenging climbs, and a bit of parking lot party tricks, this clinic is for you!
Ideally attendants would have experience with trackstands, brake control, lifting wheels off the ground, gear selection and a bit of balance. While this are not requirements, having a grasp of these skills will help you get to the fun stuff faster!
Clinics are limited to 10 participants so instructors can provide individualized support.
LOCATION: W e will be using the NEW all-weather trails at Aldo Leopold Park on the South Side of Madison for these trails so the classes can happen rain or shine (lightning not so much).
E QUIPMENT: At minimum, you'll need a helmet, close-toed footwear, and an operable, maintained basic mountain bike (with front suspension). Please come prepared with your own nutrition and hydration needs!
W HO ARE OUR CLINIC INSTRUCTORS?
Freddy Astrada is a Professional Trials rider and Mountain Biker originally from Argentina!
From Freddy:
I love bikes and they led me to pursue a career in the bike industry which brought me to Madison about 2 years ago. I love seeing communities build around bikes, and I really enjoy helping people grow confident on their bike handling skills, so they can be out there finding new ways to tackle the challenges that off road riding offers.
Trials has given me a solid base of fundamental skills, and I have found that those skills transfer very well to Mountain Biking, so I want to help other riders level up their game through mastering this bike handling techniques.
I have been riding bikes for about 17 years, focusing on different disciplines like BMX, Trials and MTB, which definitely gives my riding a pretty distinct style. I love a good parking lot session or street ride as much as riding some dirt!
WHAT ARE CORP CLINICS?
Capital Off-Road Pathfinders (CORP) is your local trail organization. CORP builds, maintains, and advocates for trails across south-central Wisconsin. When you attend these clinics, ALL of your proceeds go directly to help CORP build and support more awesome trails in our area.
W HAT IS THE SUGGESTED DONATION
Most mountain bike clinics cost several hundred dollars for a few hours of instruction; we suggest a $100 donation for CORP members, and a $150 donation for non-members. Our instructors are all volunteers, and 100% of your contributions toward our clinics go directly toward building and supporting mountain bike trails in our area!
We want all folks to be involved in our awesome local mountain bike community. If the cost of a clinic is a hardship, you can pay less than the suggested amount.
