About this Event
Join FFA Architecture and Interiors and our project partners for an engaging evening at the newly expanded and renovated Mt. Scott Community Center, a project rooted in community connection, sustainability, and long-term resilience. Newly open to the public, this special event offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at one of Portland Parks & Recreation’s most transformative civic projects.
Drop in for a casual happy hour, mingle with the design and construction team, and attend one or more of four guided tours, each offering a unique perspective on the project’s goals, materials, and impact:
Site & Landscape Strategies
- With FFA and Mayer/Reed, explore how the building addition’s siting honors the surrounding 11-acre park, preserves mature trees, and establishes a welcoming “cabin in the woods” presence.
Mass Timber & Carbon Storytelling
- With FFA, Bremik Construction, and Carpentry Plus, dive into the timber structure’s low-carbon construction approach and the material and design coordination behind this addition.
Systems & Resilient Design
- With FFA and PAE, learn how thoughtful MEP design supports energy performance, occupant comfort, and shelter-in-place capabilities for future climate events.
Community Engagement & Project Visioning
- With FFA and Portland Parks & Recreation, hear how stakeholder input, combined with PP&R’s commitment to the community, shaped this flexible, inclusive facility, designed to serve Southeast Portland for generations.
Come celebrate a milestone in Portland’s sustainable civic architecture and discover how design can support both people and planet.
Event Notes:
Tours will begin every thirty (30) minutes, and we encourage you to attend more than one, or all, if you are able.
Parking may be limited on-site, and in the nature of Sustainable Building Week, we encourage carpooling and the use of public transportation.
