About this Event
M.S.G. Acoustic Blues Trio can raise the roof with some old fashioned house party tunes and then make you weep with their blues ballads!
All three members - Jackie Merritt, Miles Spicer and Resa Gibbs, are active participants with the Archie Edwards Blues Heritage Foundation, and they’ve been playing music together for decades throughout Virginia and beyond.
Piedmont blues, developed in the southeastern United States, is one of the most distinctive and elegant styles in the blues tradition, and Richmond, Virginia was one of the “hot spots” during the early 20th century. Although the Piedmont Blues style was born out of hard times, the music is anything but depressing. There’s an air of defiance, determination, and humor that makes the songs uplifting, inspirational, and sometimes hilarious!
Jackie, Miles and Resa delve deep into the roots of Piedmont Blues with a repertoire of both traditional and original material, punctuated with stories and anecdotes that make for a wonderful evening’s entertainment!
