About this Event
Band name: Mraolia
Line-up: Silvan Schmid, trumpet & Timothée Quost, trumpet
Style: improvisation / experimental composing
“Mraolia” is the name of an imaginary composition, which is improvised live by Silvan Schmid and Timothée Quost. Together, with two trumpets, they imagine and re-imagine “Mraolia” in the form of a spatial structure related to sound, rhythm and thought. After several tours in Europe, they are currently working on a recording project.
Silvan Schmid is a trumpet player based between Zürich and Maastricht. He plays live and does recordings with people and projects such as:

Timothée Quost, Improvisor, composer, trumpet player, Timothée Quost is a young French musician walking along the borders of different musical practices. Very quickly Timothée Quost showed interest in free improvisation and will develop a personal approach of his instrument by boosting / intensifying it with a specific amplification device.Timothée will record his first album solo in Copenhagen, a time during which he will meet on stage musicians such as Lotte Anker, Michael Zerang and Barry Guy. He also plays duets with musicians such as French saxophonists Michel Doneda and Jean-Luc Guionnet or the Slovenian drummer Jaka Berger.
Together with his instrumental activities Quost develops a work of music composition of his own. In contact with composers (and improvisers) such as Alvin Curran, Fred Frith or Alexandros Markeas, Timothée digs deeper into his approach, especially in relation to the tone / timber, but also in the relationship with the writing and the improvised, distinguishing himself from the traditional school of French composition.
He founded the LIKEN orchestra with the young conductor Léo Margue. Together, they dedicated themselves to the creation in situ right outside the concert halls, involving the venue performances and its acoustics at the center of the musical process. The third musical creation of the orchestra, "GRAND MASQUE", will receive the first prize of the festival New Music Project of San Marino.
Rummaging again and again the recesses of his own sensitivity to reach ever more directly and sincerely his listeners.
