About this Event
Ottawa Choral Workshops presents a powerful performance of Mozart’s Requiem, one of the most compelling works in the choral repertoire.
Left unfinished at Mozart’s death in 1791, the Requiem has fascinated musicians and audiences for centuries. The surviving manuscript breaks off partway through the Lacrimosa, leaving later musicians to determine how the masterpiece might have been completed.
This performance features the recent scholarly completion by Michael Ostrzyga, which draws on modern research and close comparison with Mozart’s musical language to offer one of the most historically informed reconstructions of how Mozart himself might have finished the work.
Performed by the singers of Ottawa Choral Workshops, joined by professional soloists and orchestra, the program presents the Requiem in a dramatic and emotionally powerful setting, combining the immediacy of live performance with fresh insight into one of music’s most famous unfinished works.
