Wagner (Humperdinck): Siegfried’s Rhine JourneyMozart: Piano Concerto No. 21
Shostakovich: Symphony No. 15
You may never hear Richard Wagner’s massive, four-opera Ring of the Nibelung in full, so enjoy it in digestible nuggets, such as this performance of Siegfried’s Rhine Journey. In partnership with the Cleveland International Piano Competition, prize winner Evren Ozel brings sparkling grace to Mozart’s delightful Piano Concerto No. 21. The evening ends with Shostakovich’s final Symphony No. 15, a bold and introspective work that combines wit and a haunting sense of reflection in his final symphony.
We’re full of surprises. Every Masterworks concert has a surprise inside – a short mystery piece that connects to the program in an unexpected way. Each one is Michael Francis’ little secret.
