MOW QUARTET STRINGS AND VOICES

The Mow Quartet is not your typical string quartet.
Behind this 100% female ensemble, trained in Belgium’s royal conservatories, lies a truly unique group.
While their instrumentation may suggest a classical repertoire, these four musicians lead us into far broader musical landscapes — a sonic journey where chamber music meets contemporary folk, instrumental rock, and urban influences.
The Mow Quartet writes and performs original songs in a variety of languages — Romanian, Czech, English, and Dutch — with rare sensitivity. Blending rich vocal harmonies with distinctive arrangements, their creations tell deep, intimate, and socially conscious stories. Singing is an essential part of their identity, enriching a musical language that is rooted in tradition yet resolutely forward-looking.
Unafraid to challenge conventions, the musicians freely switch instruments throughout their concerts. Alongside violin, viola, and cello, they bring in guitar, percussion, and accordion to shape their sound. Each piece becomes a living scene, a space of freedom and sonic cross-pollination. Between the warmth of folk and the pulse of the city, their music is shaped collectively — with energy, boldness, and sincerity. On stage, their strong connection is tangible. They create an authentic bond with the audience and constantly push the boundaries between genres and cultures.
The Mow Quartet is vibrant, free, and alive — a project to experience live, without hesitation.
Program:
Traditional European melodies rearranged by the quartet, alongside original compositions in multiple languages.
A selection: Nane Cocha, Do Kola, Dor, Papa Ruda, Jan de Mulder, Joia, Het Waren, and Nuevo Aire.
