Unmistaken Child is a deeply moving documentary that follows the spiritual journey of Geshe Tenzin Zopa as he searches for the reincarnation of his beloved teacher. Traveling through remote Himalayan villages, he relies on intuition, faith, and ancient Buddhist traditions to identify the child believed to carry his master’s spirit. Along the way, the film gently explores themes of devotion, loss, and continuity, revealing how love and spiritual commitment can transcend death. With quiet beauty and emotional honesty, the story offers a profound reflection on faith, responsibility, and the enduring bond between teacher and disciple.

ABOUT GESHE TENZIN ZOPA (in the movie)
Geshe Tenzin Zopa is a Tibetan Buddhist monk within the FPMT, born in 1975 in Nepal’s Tsum Valley. He entered Kopan Monastery at the age of nine for traditional training in philosophy and practice. He later completed his advanced Geshe degree at Sera Jey Monastic University in South India. A devoted disciple of Geshe Lama Konchog, he served as his attendant and translator for many years. His search for his teacher’s reincarnation became the subject of the documentary Unmistaken Child. Geshe Zopa now teaches internationally as an FPMT touring Geshe across Asia, Europe, and beyond. In his home region of Tsum, he continues to support monasteries, nunneries, and local Dharma projects. He is also closely involved in caring for Tulku Tenzin Phuntsok Rinpoche, the recognized reincarnation. Known for his warmth and clarity, he has authored several books on Buddhist philosophy and practice.
