Join Movie Loft for the 7th session of the Harry Dean Stanton Appreciation Society, a screening series featuring some perhaps lesser-encountered movies that included the one and only HDS! Working off Roger Ebert's “Stanton-Walsh” rule, which states that any movie that features M. Emmet Walsh or Harry Dean Stanton, however briefly, cannot be all bad, we'll put this rule to the test once a month in 2024!July finds us in a sweaty swirl with the 1989 comedy 'Twister', the feature-length debut from director Michael Almereyda ('Nadja', 'Hamlet', 'Cymbeline', etc.)! Based on the novel 'Oh!' by Mary Robison, this Kansan yarn tells of the Cleveland family, an eccentric bunch whose relationships and idiosyncrasies play out while a tornado bears down. Harry Dean plays Eugene Cleveland, the head of the family and a retired soda-pop and mini-golf tycoon. Also caught up in the whirlwind are Suzy Amis, Crispin Glover, Charlayne Woodard, Dylan McDermott, Tim Robbins, and yes, why not, William S. Burroughs!
