Lab, as in laboratory — A SPACE TO MOVE and experiment for the sake of experience, with no expected skill set or outcome. COME PLAY WITH ME!
Practical details straight up:
• Tickets: $15 each, plus the divided cost of renting the space (cash on the day) 6pm- 8pm
• When: FIRST THURSDAY of the month - 5 Feb, 5 March and 2 April, 2026 (with the possibility of moving into a six-week block, fortnightly, or even weekly depending on interest, we'll chat if you're keen!)
• What to wear: Long sleeves. (I never understood this at first either, but wearing them — especially in Bali — completely shifted my experience for the better. Even sweaty, it’s worth it!)

More details:
Intention
Think of this as a laboratory — a space where we experiment for the sake of experience, not to reach a particular outcome or skill level.
It’s not a workshop in the formal sense, more of a play space. Each session will have a theme or point of focus, with some gentle guidance to open things up. After that, the floor is open for exploration, connection, and experimentation with different bodies to really feel into it.
Everything THE EMBODIED SPACE creates aims to create connection, to ourselves, to the earth and to others. This space will be no different; to explore movement as a form of connection to our own body and to the bodies of others. The felt sense of connection and how movement is a language and deep expression of its own.
This will NOT be traditional contact improv although this is a space where I’d like to explore the concepts and skills that create the foundation for contact improv, I want it to be a space where we explore on an ongoing basis how movement and moving together can help us connect to our own body and how we can connect and communicate with others including mutual consent, how to enter and exit a connection and follow the energy till one or both feel complete. These nuances feel fun and exciting and necessary to me. And come up on the dance floor often when I dance with others.

What we’ll explore
Movement, play, and games as relational themes
Partnered play and individual exploration
Butt shaking, twerking, grinding, and sexy-ass dancing
Weight bearing and sharing
Mutual consent
How to enter and exit connection
Following the energy until one or both feel complete
These nuances feel fun, exciting, and deeply necessary.

Why, you ask...
Something happens in us as humans when we dance with someone else. When we everyone is willing to get playful and try new things and find new ways of moving …something magical unfolds. There is connection, invitation, play, a surrender and a dance that literally becomes the sum greater than its parts.
It’s freaking magic.
It can help build trust, with oneself and with others…often without speaking a word once the initial connection is made. That’s what I love about this kind of movement: it has a language all its own — the language of dance, of touch, of play, of deep felt sense and body knowing…all rolled into one that once a foundation is established often doesn’t need words but is deeper and fuller than what I could ever speak with words.
Hence — I propose MOVEMENT LAB — a space DEDICATED TO MOVING TOGETHER! — to explore all of this!

A little more about long sleeved clothing —
This was a weird thing to me when I first showed up at contact improv, but I wish someone explained it to me. Because wearing long sleeves in Bali considerably improved my experience. Even and especially when I was all hot and sweaty!!
Clothes help protect the body from burns, bruises, and scrapes and help movement flow more easily.
Fabric-on-fabric feels smoother than skin-on-skin and keeps you warm between slower and faster movements.
It also helps the body be seen as a neutral canvas — reducing sexualisation and deepening focus on the movement itself.

The FIRST THREE SESSIONS (5 Feb, 5 March and 2 April, 2026) will be a trial period — with the intention of continuing for sure, maybe more often depending on interest!
I’m so freakin excited.
This has been brewing in me for years. So many conversations — both spoken and had with bodies on the dance floor as we move together and discover something way beyond words…See you on the floor, much love
Your little dancing Fiona ✨😃💃
