MOVE: The Old DaysCommemorating the May 13, 1985 bombing of MOVE and the Launch of The MOVE Activist Archive

May 13th marks the 39th anniversary of the May 13, 1985 bombing of The MOVE Organization by the Philadelphia police, which resulted in the tragic loss of 11 MOVE members and the destruction of two blocks in the Cobbs Creek community of West Philadelphia.

The 2024 annual commemoration is a special week-long event that will launch The MOVE Activist Archive's first exhibit, "MOVE: The Old Days," and raise funds for the Reclaim Osage campaign.

Event Overview

On SUNDAY, MAY 12th at 10 AM, join us in showing love to the Cobbs Creek community with a block clean-up and food distribution at Cobbs Creek Parkway and Osage Ave.

On MONDAY, MAY 13th at 5 PM, join us in honoring the lives lost and changed forever at the historic marker on Cobbs Creek Parkway.

On THURSDAY, MAY 16th at 6:30 PM join us for an intimate tour of The MOVE Activist Archive's first exhibit--MOVE: The Old Days--featuring never-before-seen MOVE historical artifacts and a panel discussion with special guests.

On SATURDAY, MAY 18th and SUNDAY, May 19th beginning at 1 PM, join us for public guided tours of The MOVE Archive exhibit.

The MOVE: The Old Days exhibit will be housed at the Paul Robeson House and Museum at 4951 Walnut Street in Philadelphia.
