No consent is granted for this event to be shared outside of the Mountain Bothies Association FB group!Hi! My name is Milly and I'm holding role as a maintenance officer for Penrhos Isaf in Wales. Im super excited to introduce you to the bothy I take care of and tell you more about it!
This event is designed to create a comfortable space for women to connect, share experiences, and support each other.
Join me for a women’s-centred bothy adventure, designed for beginners who want to learn about bothying, explore the great outdoors, and connect with like-minded women. This trip will introduce you to the Mountain Bothies Association (MBA), what they do, and how you can get involved in maintaining and using these unique shelters responsibly.
Alongside learning about bothy etiquette and safety, we’ll also have open discussions about challenges women face at different life stages while bothying or wild camping.
What to Expect:
✅ Introduction to Bothying – What bothies are, how they work, and how to use them respectfully.
✅ The Mountain Bothies Association – How you can support and benefit from their work and for them.
✅ Practical Skills – Packing tips, staying safe, and making the most of your trip.
✅ Community & Connection – Meet and share experiences with other adventurous women.
✅ Talks on Women’s Health & Outdoor Adventures – Understanding how hormonal changes affect endurance, sleep, and overall experience in the wild.
What to Bring:
✅Sleeping bag & sleeping mat. Unfortunately camping in Coed y Brenin is strictly prohibited and tent option outside of the bothy is not allowed.
✅Warm, waterproof clothing, spare dry clothing, bothy slippers or crocs
✅Food & snacks, water & drinks, water filter, cooking equipment

We will walk for about 4,5miles flat for most of the walk, boggy in places. We will walk along the precipice walk path https://eryri.gov.wales/walk/precipice-walk/
We will drop into the valley through the woods till we reach public road (please take extra caution walking along public road). once we cross the river we will walk uphill trough the woods and head to our final destination. Once we get to the bothy we will settle in, take our sleeping places and have a well deserve brew.
After look around we will explore surroundings and walk to view point on the valley or leave this for a moonlight walk! Optional walk to my secret plunge spot! After walk we will get back to the bothy, start fire, cook food, have some drinks and enjoy rest of the night chatting and playing games.
We might have company since bothy is open to everyone and never too small so be prepared to share room with other gender visitors
