About this Event
Park staff and volunteers from the Friends of Mt. Spokane will lead this 2.6-mile snowshoe hike to the Smith Gap warming hut. Along the way, participants will traverse through a beautiful old-growth cedar-hemlock forest and pass several stream crossings. Snacks will be provided at the trailhead.
THINGS TO BRING: Snowshoes, waterproof or water-resistant boots, gators or waterproof pants, trekking poles, sunglasses, sunscreen, snacks and water.
WHERE TO MEET: Meet in the Lower Kit Carson parking lot at the first hairpin turn. Address for the Lower Kit Carson parking lot is 26902 N Mt. Spokane Park Dr, Mead WA 99021.
RESTRICTIONS: Dogs are welcome on this hike but must be on leash at all times.
While January 1st is a Discover Pass Free Day, the Free Day does not apply to Sno-Parks. A Daily Sno-Park Permit ($25) or combination of Seasonal Sno-Park Permit ($50) and Seasonal Special Groomed Sticker ($70) are required to park in the Selkirk Lodge parking lot. Passes can be purchased at the Mount Spokane State Park office/kiosk or online at https://parks.wa.gov/passes-permits/permits/sno-park-permits.
