On Sunday, January 28th, a new trek on Mount Cotrozzi to discover the rock carvings.We will depart from Santa Maria del Giudice and, in about half an hour, reach the area of Mount Cotrozzi.
After a detailed explanation of the history of the place, the trek will continue towards Moriglione di Penna, joining the trail 00 of Mount Pisano.
We will encounter the hermitage of Spelonca, an ancient stone church used by ancient hermits seeking a peaceful place for prayer.
And finally, we will return to the village.
The loop will be approximately 9km with a 600m elevation gain, starting from an altitude of about 80m and reaching a maximum altitude of 543m at Moriglione di Penna.
PROGRAM:
- Meeting at Lungarno Guadalongo, Pisa h. 8:45 AM
- The hike will start at 9:30 AM
- Hiking ~5hrs, 9km, 600m difference in height
- Coming back in the afternoon
MUST HAVE:
Hiking shoes and equipment
Thick clothes and one extra change
Water (~2liters)
Packed lunch
Transportation fees will be divided among the participants.
UISP hiking membership card required (our Peppermint card is ok as well)
