It’s been a long time since we have had a Motown night at the Linsmore Tavern (1298 Danforth Ave) and that is exactly what is happening on Saturday September 28th! Motown Stax will be in the house and it will be a Motown Saturday night at the Linsmore featuring 2 of the GTA’s most popular singers, Gail Roberts and Chloe Watkinson! Get ready to party and dance to some of the legendary soul, pop, rock and funk from the very popular Motown and Stax labels! This is a very unique show that we know our loyal music supporters are going to love! The show starts at 9:30pm, there will be a $10 cover at the door!Two powerful voices in beautiful harmony, joining forces with Toronto’s “Worst Pop Band Ever” to bring you a mix of soul, funk, pop, and rock. Including hits from the epically popular Motown and Stax labels, Gail Roberts and Chloe Watkinson bring you a night of lovably recognizable songs, from Stevie Wonder to Black Sabbath. Both Roberts and Watkinson are second generation musicians with a couple decades of experience under their belts. They have graced many stages around the world, particularly in Toronto, including Massey Hall, Opera House, and Preservation Hall in New Orleans. Joining them are the ironically named “Worst Pop Band Ever”, who Watkinson joined at Toronto City Hall in 2017, and on the main stage in the Distillery District earlier this month. As their band name suggests, they have a great sense of humour and humility, although their actual musicianship is quite contrary to what the name states. A group of superlative musicians with technical expertise and a natural ability to vibe with the vocalist, they always put on a great show.
