PLEÀSE NOTE JAN 5TH IS A PROVISIONAL START DATE.Welcome to Motionless Mondays.
Monday can be the most challenging day of the week for us, so why not gift yourself this meditative class to unwind from the day.
We will start with a gentle Yin practice suitable for beginners, mostly floor postures which are held at 'our edge' the place where we feel something but not the deepest version of the pose then to become still for between 2 and 5 minutes. Props are used to support us at our edge to enable the body to yield, targeting the connective tissue and fascia. Over time, this can increase our flexibility and bring nourishment to our joints. This practice has its origins in both ACM (ancient Chinese medicine) and traditional Hatha Yoga. Both are believed to unblock or target the energy pathways (meridians or nadis) to allow Chi or Prana to flow with ease and also to encourage the body to heal.
We will then spend approximately 15 minutes in a Restorative Yoga pose. Again we use props, but in a different way to Yin. We support the body fully on the floor, in a pose which completely supports the body to encourage us to just BE rather than DOING which allows us to drop even further into the parasympathetic nervous system, our place to rest and digest.
Both practices are quiet, non moving and calming. Perfect for winding down from your day.
