About the workshop
Join scientist and illustrator Anna Voytsekhovich for a focused, immersive weekend exploring the beauty and complexity of moths and butterflies through watercolour.
Across two days, you’ll learn about insect anatomy, ecology, and morphology, alongside practical illustration skills. Anna will guide you step by step through drawing, scaling, composition, and transferring your work to paper, before building colour, pattern, and texture in watercolour.
This workshop is designed to gently demystify scientific illustration. By the end of the weekend, you’ll have the skills and confidence to complete a detailed, scientifically accurate watercolour illustration of a moth or butterfly of your choice.
Participants will also have two weeks after the workshop to finish their painting and submit it to Anna for individual feedback.

Experience level
Suitable for beginner to intermediate students with some drawing and watercolour experience.

About the tutor
Anna Voytsekhovich holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Ecology and a PhD in Botany. She is a professional scientist, scientific illustrator, botanical artist, and wildlife illustrator. Originally from Ukraine, Anna moved to Australia in 2016 and is a member of the Botanical Art Society of Australia. She currently lives in Sydney, where she combines illustration practice with bush habitat restoration work focused on critically endangered plant communities.
