About this Event
What better way to celebrate Mom or someone special in your life than with handmade gifts! At this workshop hosted by Alison from The Lavender Sachet and Beth of Eliza Dot Design, you will make one botanically dyed tea towel and a customized perfume rollerball.
Before or after the workshop, attendees can shop the lush plants, local pottery, home decor and jewelry at Patina at Home. For all workshop guests, Patina at Home is offering 10% off all plants.
To kick off the workshop, experience the beauty of natural dyeing with Beth from Eliza Dot Design. The Botanical Dyeing workshop is a great first step in dyeing and learning the basics of botanical colors.
You will learn about bundle dying with garden-grown flowers, like marigolds, cosmos and sumac berries. Each participant will dye their own tea towel (provided) while Beth demonstrates the process step-by-step. Once the tea towel is done steaming, we’ll open them to reveal the results. No two towels will be the same!
At the end of the workshop, you will come away with dyed tea towel. Quick tip: Dress appropriate, dyeing is a little messy :)
The second portion of the workshop is perfume-making. Alison Peters, founder and owner of The Lavender Sachet, will take the group through the process of how to create a beautiful rollerball perfume step-by-step. Rollerball perfumes are great to keep at your bedside, your desk at work or carry in your purse for a quick pick-me-up.
We’ll start with smelling all the fragrance options — from woodsy scents like sandalwood, to floral scents like jasmine — and of course citrus scents, like grapefruit. Alison will help guide everyone on the best scents to blend together.
Once scents are selected, we’ll move on to choosing our base oils: sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, and avocado oil.* Dried flower petals from a local flower farmer can be added to the perfume bottle for added beauty. Workshop guests will receive labels and name their custom-made perfume rollerballs.
Rollerballs are 1/3 oz. (10 mL) each. Space for this special collaborative workshop is limited. Grab a friend and reserve your spot ASAP.
Workshop will take place at Patina at Home (504 Wyoming Avenue) from 6-8:00pm on Wednesday, May 1. This is a bring your own beverage event, feel free to bring any snacks or drinks to enjoy during class.

*Note: Please do not use any of these base oils (sweet almond, jojoba, avocado, grapeseed) if you are allergic to their ingredients. Alison can plan in advance for you to make a perfume spray using witch hazel and distilled water if you’d still like to participate. Thank you!
