Moray Ideas 2026

A fantastic event for young people and youth workers, Moray Ideas is all about engaging, inspiring and empowering young people and youth workers to take the lead in their local communities. This event comprises an action-packed programme of fun and engaging workshops for young people and a separate workshop list for workers to ignite new ideas and gain new experiences.

Moray Ideas Event is for young people, youth workers and volunteers to learn new skills, network, share ideas, access a fantastic choice of workshops and celebrate the impact of youth work.

The Moray Ideas Event is most suited for:

  • Workers/Leaders (18 yrs plus)
  • Young People (12-17 yrs)


Young people under 16 years of age will need to come with a youth worker and a parent or guardian will also be required to sign a completed consent form.

Young People (16 years plus) can self-book on to the event and a completed consent form needs to be completed and sent to us prior to the event.

Workers can self-book on to the event and can either come alone or accompany young people. There is a separate programme of workshops for both young people and workers, with shared evening entertainment.

Venue: The daytime programme will take place at the Elgin Community Centre and the evening programme will take place at the Elgin Youth Cafe.

Programme for Moray Ideas

10am – Registration

10.30am – Spotlight session and ice breaker

11am – Break

11.15am – Workshop one

12.45pm – Lunch

1.45pm – Energiser

2pm – Workshop 2

3.30pm – Break

3.45pm – Closing of remarks


5pm – 9pm – Dinner and entertainment (please note this will take place in a different venue at Elgin Youth Café)



Session for young people


Active Dance

Join us for an energetic and fun-filled session of dance. Try new dance moves and make up your own dance. No dance experience required!


Intro to Graffiti

Ever wanted to try graffiti art? Join this hands-on session where you'll learn the basics of graffiti design — from picking bold colours and shaping outlines to creating cool backgrounds. No experience needed — just bring your imagination and get ready to make your mark!


Special Effects and Glitter Festival Make-Up:

Ready to turn heads… or twist stomachs? In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to create awesome special effects make-up from realistic cuts and bruises to creepy zombie looks. Once you've mastered the messy stuff, we’ll switch it up and bring the sparkle. Try out bold festival styles using glitter, stencils, and colourful designs to create eye-catching looks.


Stop Action filming:

Create, direct, and edit your own stop motion film—all within one session. Get hands-on with LEGO, action figures, Playmobil, clay, and more as you dive into the world of stop motion animation. Whether you're a total beginner or just curious, this fast-paced creative workshop will give you everything you need to bring stories to life—frame by frame.


Session for workers


Mental Health & Wellbeing

This session will help you confidently support mental health and wellbeing in group settings by increasing understanding of key concepts, exploring factors affecting young people, and tackling stigma. You will also learn practical strategies to manage stress, worries, and anxiety effectively.


Autism Awareness

A practical workshop for youth workers exploring autism, challenging common myths, and understanding how it may present in young people. The session focuses on reducing barriers in youth work settings and provides simple, inclusive strategies to better support autistic young people.


Wellbeing and listening

A practical session designed to strengthen active listening, emotional awareness, and compassionate communication in everyday interactions in youth work.


Behaviour that challenges

A practical workshop exploring what is often described as “challenging behaviour” and what it may communicate about a young person’s needs. The session focuses on understanding behaviour in context, reducing barriers, and using supportive, trauma-informed approaches to respond positively and inclusively.
