East Perth is a special place for Aboriginal people. Today, little remains of the old houses, shops, factories and camping places where Nyoongar and other Aboriginal people from around the state lived, worked and played in the 1950s, '60s and '70s. Many former Aboriginal residents still carry in their hearts and minds a strong sense of connection to the area and to each other.Come learn about recent projects to collect and share Aboriginal stories of old East Perth by St Bart's, the State Library of WA and Elders from the Moorditj Footprints project.
After the talks, take a guided tour of the area with Elders from the Moorditj Footprints project on a vintage bus with volunteers from the Bus Preservation Society of WA.
Talks: 11am - 1pm
Location: The Barn at City Farm. No registration required.
Bus Tour: 1.30-3pm
Departs: City Farm. Registration for the bus tour is required as places are limited.
This event is presented in collaboration with St Barts, the State Library of Western Australia (Storylines), the City of Perth, City Farm, the Bus Preservation Society of WA and Moorditj Footprints Elders.
