Your Mission—Should You Choose to Accept It…Ready to boldly go where your imagination has never gone before? Welcome to Moon Rocks 2026, Northern Nevada’s ultimate sci-fi filmmaking challenge—where time is short, stakes are high, and creativity is absolutely out of this world.
Whether you’re channeling your inner Star Wars rebel, bending reality like The Matrix, or crafting something eerier than Alien, this is your chance to create a cinematic universe… in just two weeks.
The Challenge
At high noon on Wednesday, May 13th, the countdown begins. You and your team will receive three mystery prompts:
A line of dialogue
A sound effect
A prop
From there? It’s warp speed ahead. You’ll have exactly 14 days to write, shoot, edit, and deliver a 5–9 minute sci-fi short film.
Films Due: Wednesday, May 27th at noon
(No time travel allowed—late entries risk falling into a black hole.)
The Premiere Event
Your film will debut on the big screen at the iconic Brewery Arts Center, where audiences and judges alike will witness your intergalactic masterpiece.
Screening & Awards Ceremony: Saturday, June 6th
Matinee Screening: 2:00 PM – $15
Evening Screening: 7:00 PM – $20
Double Feature Pass: $25

Each team receives 2 comp tickets to the screenings and a chance to showcase their work to a live audience!
