Join us each month at Verbena Fields (Chico). Learn about native plants and how Chico T.E.K.'s restoration work there is reviving native ecosystem habitat.Traditional Ecological Knowledge (T.E.K.) refers to the generations of observations, learning, and wisdom that indigenous peoples have about their lands and ecosystems. Ali Meders-Knight, a local Mechoopda Tribal member and Master Traditional Ecological Practitioner, is partnering up with plant wizard Raphael DiGenova and the Camp Fire Restoration Project to bring you a monthly TEK Wildtending Plant walk. Come learn about TEK, the 10 year indigenous-led restoration project at Verbena Fields, native plants and their cycles throughout the year, and how we can be better stewards of these plants and these lands.
The plant walk is always free, and open to all ages. We appreciate registration on Eventbrite ( https://www.eventbrite.com/e/monthly-tek-plant-walk-at-verbena-fields-tickets-847685418907 ).
Donation are always welcomed and directly support these efforts.
The event will be held the last Tuesday of each month, 2 hours before sunset.
Event times change with the season.
Participants are encouraged to bring water. Please wear close-toed shoes. Hats, notebooks, & pens might be useful.
Please note there are no bathrooms on site.
Participants are also encouraged to volunteer with Ali at Verbena Fields every Friday from 10am-1pm to support the continued restoration of that land.
Donations are greatly appreciated. 100% of donations go to TEK Chico and will also support scholarships for indigenous youth to do land stewardship.
