Bring whatever you're working on (it can be knitting, crochet, embroidery, cross stitch, mending - anything crafty!) and join us on the third Sunday of the month (February to November) for a casual session of sociable stitching hosted by the Wellington Embroiderers' Guild.Each session runs from 2pm to 4pm, but as an informal event you are welcome to arrive late or leave early. Did you know Katherine Mansfield was a keen knitter? In October 1921 she wrote to her cousin, the writer Elizabeth von Arnim, "The knitting becomes almost frenzied at times. We may be sober in our lives, but we shall be garish in our shrouds and flamboyant in our coffins if this goes on.” The next month she reported to her friend Dorothy Brett, "The Wools came today. They are quite lovely & I feel inclined to carry them about, just as they are, like fat dolls."
