Hello Marauders!We open the doors of the Llantrisant Guildhall each month to create a safe space for blokes to come together for a coffee and chat. Whether you're already an active member of the group, a past-member looking to get back involved with us either walking or socialising with us again, or someone new who's looking to join us - everyone is welcome.
This month, as well as our usual catch-up, we are going to cover the subject of Walk Safety.
Since starting up we've taken on over 160 walks and covered more than 1,000 miles around the South Wales coast & countryside and, touch wood, our safety record is excellent. However, we don't want to take anything for granted, particularly as our walk headcounts increase.
Today we'll be led by Paul Ford who, as well as being an established Marauder, volunteers for the Brecon Mountain Rescue team, and he'll be passing on his wealth of experience to talk to us about all the things that we can and should be doing to keep us safe. Walk planning, first aid, emergency procedures, risk assessments, walk leader disciplines, navigation, equipment etc...etc... This will very much be a two-way discussion and attendees will be encouraged to contribute.
The doors open at 9:30am but feel free to get there a little earlier if you want to introduce yourself or help set up the venue facilities.
Free light refreshments available all morning too!
Car parking at the Guildhall is limited so please park at Heol y Sarn or Gwaunruperra Rd car parks which are a short 5 minute walk away.
