Hello Marauders! This week we'll be scaling the heights of Mynydd Maendy and Mynydd Portref and getting up close to the wind turbines to enjoy the summit views over the Vale and surrounding villages of Tonyrefail and Gilfach Goch.
This is a 7-mile circular walk graded a level 7 on our Marauders Walk Scale. There is a hill to climb and the route that we'll be taking will have a short & sharp elevation up to the top with 400ft to tackle within a 1km section.
Bring a drink and snack with you. We'll take a break at the halfway point of St Peter's Church before heading back down through Thomastown and back to our start point.
As usual, wear weather appropriate clothing and footwear as it could be wet & windy at the top.
Meet at 9:20am ready to start promptly at 9:30a,. Free on-road parking is available along Wilfred Way but park well away from the factory access roads.
